Treating uncertainty in sociotechnical systems

Abstract
This paper develops a model of uncertainty suitable for design process enrichment. Design group cooperation and bias are examined to illustrate the hazards of design processes, and the utility of the model in treating such hazards are illustrated. The model is applied to examples to elicit forecasting assistance during design decision-making.
