About Lynne Sanders

Dr. Sanders has several years of nursing and teaching experience. She started her nursing career in 1983 after graduating from a diploma program. She earned her BSN from Liberty University in 1986 & MSN from the University of Virginia in 1987. Her doctorate is in Counseling Psychology from The University of Sarasota. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League of Nursing. Dr. Sanders loves nursing and still considers her original RN her most beloved degree. She has over 20 years of critical care nursing experience including surgical/trauma, medical, and cardiothoracic surgery. In addition, she worked as an assistant research coordinator for various cardiology medication and device trials. She has also worked and volunteered with Hospice patients. She has been a full-time faculty member with the LU department of nursing since 1992, teaching a wide range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Currently, she teaches several courses in the RN-BSN & MSN programs. Dr. Sanders has been married for 30 years and has two grown children. Personal interests include various crafts (quilting, embroidery, making cards) and electronic puzzles & games. She views nursing as a ministry and a chance to touch patient's lives in more than just the physical sense. As Christian nurses, she believes we can truly be the "hands and feet of Jesus".
