About Lynn Dau

I am a sculptor and spatial art instructor at SJSU. Originally from Los Angeles, California, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1993 after living in Anchorage, Alaska. Before completing my MFA in Spatial Art at SJSU in 2017, I obtained a BA in Behavioral Sciences from National University and law degree from UC Davis, King Hall School of Law. After practicing as a criminal defense attorney and having two children I returned to school to study visual art. Since graduating I have taught beginning sculpture classes at Gavilan College, Santa Clara University and SJSU. My art practice explores themes related to familial relationships, parenting and gender equity. My primary medium of choice is the found object from which I create assemblages using a variety of fabrication techniques. I have exhibited my work at venues throughout my home state of California and Nationally.
