About Leonard Piché

Dr Leonard Piché (Nutritional Scientist and Registered Dietitian, RD) is a Full Professor in the Foods and Nutrition Program at Brescia University College at the University of Western Ontario. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the school of Kinesiology, UWO. He is member of 10 professional national organizations; is responsible for teaching basic and advanced nutrition courses at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels; was lead investigator on a national survey of school feeding programs in all elementary schools; was a consultant for a Canadian edition of a recent high school Food & Nutrition text; was a contributor for two editions of a Medical dictionary. He is co-author on two publications on Canada’s Food Guide; wrote/co-wrote a number of Canadian Student Information (CSI) documents to accompany entry level University Nutrition texts. He has been involved in experiments in humans looking at the relationship between diet and heart disease risk (for example, Orange juice and Good Cholesterol). He has provided feedback to Health Canada on more than 3 dozen occasions regarding food & nutrition related issues (for example the Food Guide). He was an advisor on three of Dietitians of Canada’s Online courses for health professionals. He is presently involved in studies looking at children’s beverage consumption and other factors that contribute to children’s Screen-Related Sedentary Behaviors. He has helped with the nutrient analysis of five recipe books and is a co-author of the First Canadian edition of a university level nutrition text. He is also a member of the Expert Advisory Committee for our Natural Health Product Directorate (NHPs include Vitamins & Minerals, Herbal products ...).
