About Leonard Kalman

Dr. Kalman plays a critical role in supporting the overall mission and vision of the Miami Cancer Institute, and in defining its clinical components. He is involved in the recruitment of faculty and staff, and is working with the operational team to create a multidisciplinary model of care combined with an unsurpassed patient experience. Following the completion of his medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City in 1982, Dr. Kalman became a practicing community medical oncologist, and joined the staffs of Baptist Hospital and South Miami Hospital. As the practice grew under his leadership, he eventually served as the Chairman of the Board of Managers of what became Advanced Medical Specialties (AMS), a large diversified oncology practice in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. As chairman, he led AMS’ strategic planning, quality and growth initiatives. As of December 2014, the physicians and employees of AMS joined Baptist Health as the founding oncologists of Miami Cancer Institute.
