About LeeAnn Lands

LeeAnn Lands is a professor of history at Kennesaw State University. Her research, writing and other creative work focus on antipoverty movements, housing segregation, and spatial inequality in the 20th century US. She is currently completing her second book, Poor Atlanta: Poverty Race, and Sunbelt Development, under contract with University of Georgia Press. Her first book The Culture of Property: Race, Class, and Housing Landscapes in Atlanta, 1880-1950 (University of Georgia Press, 2009) examined the relationship between whiteness and neighborhood landscapes. With her students, Lands has partnered with communities in NW Georgia to document and interpret histories underrepresented on the public landscape, projects that resulted in radio documentaries, permanent exhibits, and local archival collections.
