About Lea Ann Kinman

Dr. Lea Ann Kinman is a Research Associate Professor and directs the daily operations of the brand new state-of-the-art Meat Science Center. Dr. Kinman earned her Ph.D. in Food Science from Oklahoma State University, received her Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Texas A&M University-Commerce, a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Oklahoma Panhandle State University and her Associate of Science in Animal Science from Eastern Oklahoma State College. After completing her doctorate degree she was an Instructor at Oregon State University and the Director of the Clark Meat Science Center. Dr. Kinman also spent time at Iowa State University as a Lecturer and Internship Coordinator in the Food Science department. Prior to coming to PVAMU she was a tenured Associate Professor at Tarleton State University and also directed the daily operations of the university meat lab. At PVAMU she currently teaches ANSC 3352 Meat Science and her research interests include: carcass characteristics and composition, fresh meat quality, ingredient functionality in processed meats, and analyzing consumer preference of meat products. In 2021, she received the NACTA Educator Award for her teaching expertise and passion for the meat and poultry industry.
