About Kevin L. Kane

Dr. Kane is the associate dean for research and outreach for the College of Design at Iowa State University. His current responsibilities include research and outreach administration and support of College of Design faculty, staff, and students including leadership of the Institute for Design Research and Outreach. He serves as the director of the ISU Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Facility, responsible for providing high level GIS research and teaching laboratories and resources to students, faculty and staff across the university. The GIS Facility provides GIS consultation, collaboration, education and outreach within ISU colleges and departments as well as coordination with GIS professionals and projects across the state of Iowa, regionally, and nationally. He is an adjunct assistant professor in the department of Landscape Architecture (LA) at ISU and has taught landscape modeling and spatial analysis, GIS workshops for faculty, graduate students, and public agencies, and mentor graduate students working with natural resources and GIS in their degree programs and with the university GIS Certificate. He has served as a research collaborator in the Dept. of Natural Resource Ecology and Management co-directing the aquatic and terrestrial Gap Analysis projects.
