About Kathleen (Katie) Brown

Kathleen (Katie) Brown is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in law and librarianship. A Drexel University iSchool alumna, she earned her library degree in 2006, following a JD from Seattle University Law School focusing on intellectual property law. Her early career included a library internship and volunteering with Washington Lawyers for the Arts while pursuing her Law Degree.

Ms. Brown's expertise spans intellectual property, legal technology, and the business of law, with a notable emphasis on process optimization and legal research. As an educator, she has taught a range of legal research courses, from beginner to advanced levels, and contributed to seminars and doctrinal courses covering Legal Technology for Practice, Art of Advocacy, and Contracts. Her academic contributions extend to her prior role as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Meinder School of Business, where she was part of the instructional team for the Master of Science in Energy Legal Studies program.

An active participant in the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), Ms. Brown has previously held various leadership positions, including chairing the AALL Economic Status of Law Librarians Committee and the Annual Meeting Program Commitment and serving a three-year term on the AALL Executive Board.,

Her profound commitment to the intersection of legal technology, education, and ethics in law was acknowledged and celebrated in 2024 when she and her co-author received the inaugural Technology & Ethics Award from the AALS Section on Technology, Law & Legal Education.

Before focusing on law librarianship, Ms. Brown shared her passion for the performing arts as an acting instructor in the Chicago Area.
