About Katherine (Katie) Toon, MOT, OTR, CLT

Katie Toon, MOT, OTR, CLT is an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and assistant professor for the OTA Program at St. Catherine University. She has been practicing occupational therapy since 2010. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science in 2008 and a Master of Occupational Therapy in 2009 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas. Katie became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist in 2012. She then completed the oncology focused Survivorship Training and Rehab Program in 2013. She began teaching Occupational Therapy Assistant Students in 2015, and became a Program Director at Brown Mackie College in Dallas, Texas in 2016. She then joined St. Catherine University in 2018 as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Professor. Katie has presented on the topic of OT practitioner mentorship at the Texas Occupational Therapy Association conference, as well as presenting on hidden curriculum and educational equality at the Best Practices in Health Sciences Education 2021 Conference, and continues her research exploration in effective fieldwork success for students.
