About Katie Savin

Dr. Katie Savin is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Social Work program at the University of the Pacific's School of Health Sciences. Katie received their MSW (Master of Social Work) from the Hunter College School of Social Work at the City University of New York and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Social Welfare. At the University of the Pacific, Katie developed and leads the Diabetes Care and Management sub-specialization for MSW students and teaches social work policy and research courses. Katie is an extramural research fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Financial Security Retirement and Disability Social Policy program where they are continuing their mixed-methods, community-based, research assessing administrative burden among Supplement Security Income recipients. Katie’s critical disability studies scholarship contributes to discussions of disability justice and public health bioethics that have informed debate on care provision during COVID-19.
