Professor of Practice
Julie Schwartz comes to W&L Law with 20 years of experience teaching legal writing at Emory Law School. Professor Schwartz graduated from Princeton University with a degree in politics in 1990. While at Princeton, she was a member of the women's varsity tennis and women's varsity soccer teams. Professor Schwartz graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 1993. During her third year of law school, she taught legal research and writing to first-year students.
After law school she practiced law for two years at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York, concentrating on general litigation. She also practiced for two years at Rogers & Hardin in Atlanta, handling primarily broker-dealer arbitrations, and for four years at Kirkley & Payne in Atlanta, where she handled general commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense matters. She previously served as adjunct professor of legal writing at Emory Law. In 2001, Schwartz contributed a chapter to The Privilege Against Self-Incrimination in Civil Litigation.
