Dr. Juan Pablo Sarmiento is a Research Professor and Associate Director for Research at the Florida International University (FIU) Extreme Events Institute. He is also the Director of the Disaster Risk and Resilience in the Americas (DRRA) program, funded by the U. S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA).
