About Ju Shen

Dr. Ju Shen was born and raised in Tianjin, China, and attended the University of Birmingham in United Kingdom, graduating with M.Sc. in computer science in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky in 2014, under the leadership of Prof. S.-C Cheung. Besides academia, he spent several years in industry, including software development, at B4U Media (Birmingham, UK, 2006-2008) and research at Hewlett-Packard R&D Lab (Palo Alto, CA, 2012). He is now an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and regularly teaches courses on Interactive Media and Artificial Intelligence. Recently, he led the renovation and furnishing of our state-of-the-art virtual reality laboratory, now named Interactive Visual Media Lab (IVIDIA).

Dr. Ju Shen’s research is in the areas of computer vision, graphics, and image processing. His recent research efforts have been focused on designing and building interactive systems on visual media for different applications, such as virtual reality, video gaming.
