About Jonathan Gentry

Jonathan Gentry is a historian of Modern Germany who specializes in music and culture.  His research on the reception of avant-garde classical music has appeared in the New German Critique and German Quarterly.  He is currently writing a book with the working title Exhibiting Degeneration: Music, Media, and the Radicalization of German Nationalism.  This project explores the role of the press in shaping German national identity by fomenting fears of cultural decline from 1848 to 1938.
