My background:
My education includes three graduate degrees: a Ph.D. and a Master’s from the State University of New York at Albany in criminal justice as well as a Master’s in Human Relations (psychology) from the New York Institute of Technology.   I am also a retired Captain from the New York City Police Department.  I have penned numerous books, book chapters, articles and editorials on various topics: democratic policing, human trafficking, data driven policy, police management, policing within the law, investigations, combating terrorism in democracies, global policing and many other police related topics.  My research has appeared on the front page of The New York Times.   I also published an op-ed in The New York Times entitled “Policing by the Numbers.”  I appear regularly in media, have been an expert witness, and conduct various research projects.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
