Assistant Professor of Law
Jodi was appointed assistant professor in 2017, prior to which she was a visiting Schulich Fellow and part-time faculty member. She holds a Doctor of Civil Law and Master of Laws from McGill University, degrees in both common law and civil law from the University of Ottawa, a graduate diploma in journalism from Concordia University, and a Bachelor of Arts (English - Cultural Studies) also from McGill. Jodi completed her articles as a law clerk to the Honourable Mr. Justice Michael Moldaver at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Jodi's family law research examines the economic and non-economic consequences of family breakdown, including the practice of judicial reliance on the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, the underlying theoretical bases for the spousal support obligation, and comparative understandings of post-marital obligations across provincial lines. Where nonhuman animals are concerned, Jodi researches and writes on legal models of companion animal ownership, the constitutional dimensions of animal rights activism, and the constitutionality of legislation aimed at limiting animal rights activism, also known as ag-gag laws.
