About Ji Woon Ryu

Ji Woon (June) Ryu, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business at Portland State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Organizational Behavior) from Indiana University, and a B.B.A. and an M.S. in Business Administration from Yonsei University in South Korea. Her research focuses on the interface between the diversity, well-being, and psychology of technology. In her current projects, she investigates how technological advancements in the workplace, such as the introduction of Artificial Intelligence and emerging digital communication channels, affect workplace diversity and individual workers' well-being. As a night owl, she is also interested in how chronotype and time of day interact to affect people's perceptions and behaviors. Her work has been published in several leading journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Business Venturing, and Organizational Research Methods. She received the Meredith P. Crawford Fellowship (2021) from the Human Resource Research Organization, which is an annual award presented to one graduate student demonstrating exceptional research promise and academic achievement. She currently teaches a course on Leadership at the undergraduate level.
