About Jeremy Maurer

Dr. Jeremy Maurer joined Missouri S&T in January 2020 as an Assistant Professor in the department of Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering. Previously he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. in Geophysics and Seismology from Stanford University and an M.S. in Geosciences from Indiana University.

Dr. Maurer uses many different kinds of quantitative tools and data to understand earthquakes, how they work, and when and where they happen. He builds predictive models and validates them using many kinds of data. When not busy coding or writing papers, Dr. Maurer loves learning more about how the tools that he uses everyday are used in other fields like finance or artificial intelligence.
