About Jeffrey P. Cain

‎Jeffrey Patton Cain, Ph.D., is Chair of the English Department. He joined the SHU faculty in 1999. Dr. Cain reviews books and articles for the scholarly journal, Deleuze Studies, and is a past president of the Northeast Popular Culture Association (NEPCA). Recently, he finished a term of service on the executive board of the National Popular Culture/American Culture Association (PCA/ACA).
Professor Cain teaches composition classes at both the introductory and advanced levels. His other regular courses include both History and Structure of the English Language and Critical Theory.
Degrees: Ph.D. University of Connecticut 1999.
Dr. Cain's research interests include post-structuralist literary theory and cultural studies. He has published articles and presented several conference papers focusing on the work of noted French theorist Gilles Deleuze. He is currently at work on a book that explores the links between Deleuzean literary theory and revolutionary political texts.
