About Jeff Johnson, PhD

Jeff Johnson's teaching and research engages issues in food ethics, environmental ethics, and animal ethics more broadly along with non-Eurocentric philosophical traditions (like Indigenous philosophies, Asian philosophies, and more). Jeff's graduate work engaged issues in philosophy of language and perception, ordinary language philosophy, and Wittgenstein. While he still teaches a couple of classes per year, Jeff transitioned into his current role as Associate Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, & Sciences in June of 2020.

Jeff first started teaching in the St. Kate's Philosophy Department as an adjunct back in 2003. He transitioned to a full time Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy position in 2006 and was awarded tenure as an Associate Professor of Philosophy in 2015. Jeff earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 2006. He earned his MA in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 2000, his BA in Philosophy from Humboldt State University in 1997, and his AA in Philosophy from Monterey Peninsula College way back in 1994.
