About James F. Whiting, MD

Jim Whiting, MD is currently the Director of Surgical Education and the Surgical Residency Program Director at Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Maine, a post he has held for the last 12 years. He has been at Maine Medical Center for the last 20 years, where he is also the Surgical Director of Transplantation. He completed his surgical residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, his Transplant Surgery fellowship at Rush Presbyterian in Chicago and was faculty at the University of Cincinnati for five years. He is a member of numerous surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, the New England Surgical Society, the  American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the Association of Program Directors in Surgery. He is a past director of the American Board of Surgery.
