About James H. Johnson Jr., PhD

Communication | TechnoCulture | Media Studies

My scholarly work is interdisciplinary and examines the intersections between race, class, sexuality and technology. My pedagogical approach is student-centered, drawing from my experiences as both a media artist and an instructional designer having utilized both pedagogical and andragogical principles. With this approach I aim to promote critical thinking, emphasize collaborative learning, and encourage tolerance for both intellectual and social diversity. Most importantly, I strive to teach students to proactively engage content instead of being passive consumers of information.
