About Hyeyoung Kang

Hyeyoung Kang joined the College of Community and Public Affairs in fall 2011 after receiving her PhD in human and community development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also has experience as a family and marital therapist and a mental health specialist. 

Kang's research interests center on youth development in diverse family contexts, as well as risk and resilience in these youth. In particular, her research focuses on immigrant youth and families and on after-school programs as a context of positive youth development.

Kang currently serves as an editorial assistant for the journal, New Directions in Child and Adolescent Development.
