About Haitham Kalil

I am well trained on surface characterization instruments, including AFM, SEM/EDS, XPS, and the Nano indenter. I have more than 20 years of experience in chemistry teaching along with research skills in coatings, polymer scaffolds, thin films, immobilized bio-components, enzymes, and graphene-nanostructures. I am a team-player, self-motivated, fast learner, active listener, goal-driven, and public speaker.
My research interest is in the design, preparation, and characterization of nanostructured materials decorated with polymeric composites and metallic nanoparticles as catalytic interfaces for the selective detection of peroxynitrite and other reactive oxygen species (ROS). Developing sensors for this metabolite and stress marker has proved to be very challenging. Our research has served as the foundation for a number of projects that have assisted in the development and improvement of the ROS sensors.
