Dr. Gulbahar Beckett, Director of the Intensive English and Orientation Program, is also Professor of Applied Linguistics (PhD ALT, MA TESL/AL). She earned her PhD degree in Language and Literacy Education from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 1999. Dr. Beckett’s areas of expertise include: Content-based second/foreign language research, teaching, and learning; Project-based second language research, teaching, and learning; Second language socialization research and theory; Second and minority language policy; Immigrant and indigenous students’ educational achievement and cultural sustainability; and Technology integrated teaching and learning.
