Of particular note, at Ohio State, Florence received the Edwin L. Smart Prize for superior academic achievement, awarded yearly to the top student in economics at the university. At Berkeley, she received numerous grants, including the normative time fellowship, the International House grant, and UCLA's education study grant. She also spent a semester studying with faculty at Columbia University in New York. At Berkeley, Florence worked on research and was formally trained by the world-renowned Clark Medalist and economist Dr. David E. Card.

Prior to her arrival at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Neymotin held a number of other positions in industry and in academia. She worked at Lehman Brothers, New York, in the Asset-Backed and Mortgage-Backed-Securities division. Dr. Neymotin examined the nature of the Student Loan Marketing Association and projected its future path as well as generating more general predictions regarding asset-backed securities. Dr. Neymotin has also worked as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Kansas State University, as a Research Fellow at the University of Kansas, and as a Visiting Scholar at the University of California Berkeley, The Ohio State University, Binghamton University, and NBER New York.

Dr. Neymotin's published work has had the distinction of being chosen as an editor's pick in the prestigious 'Science' in the category of education. To date, her work has been published in nineteen different highly-regarded peer-reviewed journals as well as being mentioned in various outlets of the popular press and in state-level legal debates. She has also worked as a referee and in an editorial capacity for a number of peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and she recently served as a Fulbright Reviewer.

Dr. Neymotin has provided her insights in televised conferences as well as to state legislators in the area of education as well as presenting her work more broadly in the national and international arena. Dr. Neymotin was also recently awarded the honor of a sponsored seat on the National Opinion Research Center’s (NORC) confidential data enclave via her work with the Kauffman Foundation on startup entrepreneurial ventures. This highly coveted honor allows her to do cutting-edge research on the nature of current business practices and outcomes for our nation's community of small businesses.

In addition to her work on entrepreneurship and education, her applied microeconomics research interests include banking, health, and social capital.
