About Evan Blewett

Evan is a graduate from the DePaul University College of Law and was admitted to practice to the Illinois Bar in November, 2014. Evan worked full-time as a faculty assistant and as a law clerk while attending law school classes in the evening. Evan's professional background gives him a unique and informed perspective that helps clients with effective and meaningful solutions to their legal issues. Evan's experience in multiple fields of law demonstrates his flexibility and ability to find solutions to even the most difficult legal problems.

From 2007-2008, Evan worked as the Assistant to African American Finance for the Obama for America campaign, making him one of the youngest paid staff members in the national headquarters. Working directly with the leaders of the African American community, Evan helped raise over $3 million dollars in campaign funds. This position opened Evan's eyes to the diverse and challenging political interests of the African American community.

From there, Evan went abroad to Dublin, Ireland for to pursue an internship in the Irish Parliament. For three months, Evan served as an intern and assistant to Senator David Norris, an active and prolific statesman. In this position, Evan compiled research and briefed Senator Norris weekly on issues such as extraordinary rendition, water pollution, reproductive rights, free speech, the 2009 Irish budget, cluster munitions, the EU Commission on Human Rights, third-level school funding, stem cell research, the European Defense Agency, and the Lisbon Treaty.

After returning to America and completing his undergraduate degree, Evan wasted no time in enrolling in law school. Evan also secured a job at the DePaul University College of Education as an administrative assistant. Evan spent the first three years of law school working full-time in order to fund his legal education, taking advantage of DePaul's tuition credit for full-time employees. Fortunately, he had ample opportunity to collaborate on legal and academic research projects with one of the faculty he assisted, former attorney Andrea Kayne Kaufman. Additionally, Evan oversaw the administration and compliance of the department's statutorily-required program evaluation.

In May, 2013, seeking to compliment his legal research and regulatory compliance experiences, Evan joined the Chicago-based business law firm Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. as a Law Clerk. Evan assists over 70 attorneys at that firm in matters ranging from Banking, Taxation, Real Estate, Estate Planning, Employment Law, Probate, Healthcare, and Litigation. Evan frequently authors legal-based memoranda that are utilized to advise Chuhak's attorneys and clients on a variety of complex issues. Additionally, Evan has gained extensive experience in drafting pre-trial motions in a variety of practice areas.

Upon admission to the Illinois State Bar in November, 2014, Evan transitioned to a role as a Staff Attorney at Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., focusing on Banking Law, Employment Law, and regulatory compliance. After quickly gaining frequent and meaningful experience as a litigator and regulatory compliance attorney, Evan formally joined Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. in June, 2015 as an Associate.

Evan’s expansive practice gives him the unique ability to help clients anticipate potential litigation pitfalls at the transactional level, while at the same time acting as a well-informed and passionate advocate when litigation is unavoidable. Additionally, Evan draws on his extensive background in statutory and regulatory compliance to help his clients conduct compliance review and prophylactic research to anticipate and react to changes in the law.

Using a unique perspective stemming from his experiences, Evan helps his clients address even the most complex state and federal compliance issues. These experiences include working in the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization at the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington D.C and later at DePaul University, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations for the Educational Leadership Program. In addition, Evan has firsthand experience helping clients create or modify their practices and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws such as FDCPA, TILA, ECOA, FCRA, SCRA, FCPA, HIPAA, ERISA, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, CAN-SPAM and others.
