About Erich Baumgartner

Dr. Baumgartner, a native of Austria, has been teaching in the area of leadership and intercultural communication for the past 30 years. He is a former President what now is called The Great Commission Research Network. Since 1999, he has been part of what now is the School of Leadership at Andrews University and eventually served as the Director of its Leadership PhD Program. He has published on cross-cultural transitions, leadership and change, and subjects of organizational growth. He has translated several works related to church growth. He has also edited a book on stress in the life of cross-cultural workers and is the mastermind behind https://adventiststatistics.org/, an online database giving you access to the historical growth data of the Seventh-day Adventist church worldwide, created with the assistance of Dr. Petr Cincala and Dr. Kleber Goncalvez and the incredible expertise of Jonathan Brauer.

Current Research or Professional Activities:
Dr. Baumgartner is the Senior Editor of the Journal of Applied Christian Leadership. In 2019 Dr. Baumgartner together with Dr. Randy Siebold started the Global Leadership Institute to prototype the LeadLab for church leaders. LeadLabs have been conducted for church leaders on all continents except the Americas. LeadLab is uniquely patterned to help leaders in their growth as leaders.
