About Erica McElreath

Erica McElreath is a professor of Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing (LRAW) at Charleston School of Law.

Experience & Activities

McElreath received her Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law in 2009. She brings a wealth of practical experience to the classroom from her practice in the areas of insurance defense, federal and state workers’ compensation, personal injury, and general civil litigation. McElreath is also a certified South Carolina Civil Court Mediator.
McElreath joined the law school in January 2022 as an adjunct legal writing professor before accepting a full-time role with the school.
“I am passionate about helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to become successful lawyers,” McElreath said. “The small class size and opportunities for one-on-one and small group instruction in legal research and writing are great opportunities to mentor law students.”
McElreath has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” (2015-2016). She is a member of the South Carolina Women’s Lawyer Association,  South Carolina Mentor Program, and serves on the Wellness Committee for the SC Bar Association
