About Eric Shane Bryan

Dr. Bryan received his B.A. in English from the University of Georgia in 2000, his M.A. in English from Saint Louis University in 2003, and his Ph.D. in English with an emphasis on medieval language and literature from Saint Louis University in 2007. His research interests include Scandinavian folklore, medieval language and literature, medieval Scandinavian and Germanic conversion narratives, and pragmatic linguistic analyses of medieval texts. His current monograph project examines folkloristic and literary reactions to the conversion and Christianization of Iceland.

Dr. Bryan teaches courses on linguistics, early British literature, myth and folklore, the Bible as literature, and fantasy literature. He is a strong supporter of a global education, and he encourages his students to study and travel abroad whenever possible. In the spring of 2011, Dr. Bryan taught for the Missouri-London Program, through which Missouri university students can study and live in London, England for a semester.
