About Enza Antenos

Dr. Antenos arrived at Montclair in 2004 after experiences in both industry and higher ed. She was a principal collaborator in the development of the interdisciplinary major, Language, Business & Culture, launched in 2019 and offered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Feliciano School of Business. She has presented at numerous national and international, in-person and virtual conferences on topics pertaining to curricular innovation, and have published on the acquisition of elementary Italian, the professional preparation of Italian teachers, and the use of social media and online collaboration in foreign language learning.

Since 2008, Dr. Antenos has chaired and co-organized one of the best meetings for Italian pedagogy in the United States. Teaching Italian: A Symposium/Workshops for Instructional Materials,” that has made Montclair State University the go-to place for Italian professional development (K-16) and has hosted workshop leaders from 23 states, D.C., Italy and Canada. Teaching Italian XVI has as its focus the role of the United National Sustainable Development Goals in the teaching of Italian.

Currently, Dr. Antenos' research revolves around the curricular development of languages for specific purposes, with ancillary research on experiential learning through professional experiences such as internships, interdisciplinary projects, and cooperative education programs, which not only support authentic learning scenarios but also create and strengthen synergies between the university and target-language communities, locally and internationally.

In 2023, Dr. Antenos was invited to teach and take the role of teaching and curriculum coordinator at Middlebury College Language Schools' Scuola italiana.
