About Dr Elizabeth Cassity

Elizabeth Cassity is a Senior Research Fellow in the Policy Research and Practice program at ACER. Elizabeth has long-term experience as researcher and university academic specialising in the education and development. She is currently Project Director for the Pacific Islands Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (PILNA) and the recently completed Zimbabwe Early Learning Assessment Project (ZELA) where she led all components of the study including evaluation, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, dissemination and reporting.  She also has over 15 years’ experience in the education sector in several Pacific countries. She has conducted research for the NSW Department of Education, and was a teacher in northern Namibia. She has developed expertise in the areas of system wide capacity review in education and assessment, education policy analysis, and research design and implementation. Elizabeth's areas of research expertise are in mixed methods study design, case study methodology and comparative policy research. She has lived and/or worked in Australia, the USA, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia and the Philippines.
