Edmond Johnson's principal area of research focuses on the revival of early music during the late 19th and early 20th century, with a particular emphasis on the movement's interdisciplinary connections. Additionally, he is interested in issues of music and technological mediation, and his research has included work in the areas of modernism, phonograph culture, and the history and development instruments. He holds an MA and PhD in musicology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BA in music from Lawrence University.
