About Durrell Nelson

Durrell serves as assistant professor for the Cinematic Arts at Liberty. As a teacher, leadership coach, and speaker, he integrates his thirty years experience in the Hollywood film business, rising from stuntman to professional actor to corporate executive. He is devoted to equipping and challenging students toward reaching their full potential, vocationally and spiritually, as purposed by Christ.
Durrell holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte, an MA in Theological Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, a Masters of Professional Writing from the University of Southern California and is a summa cum laude graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Woodbury University. Nelson is currently pursuing a PhD in Theology and Apologetics.
Durrell is a award winning screenwriter, playwright, poet, and director of the film Texas Rein. He has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild for more than 30 years working on numerous productions including: Killing Lincoln, JAG, An American Carol, X-Files, The Doors, General Hospital, Melrose Place, Blow Out, Passions, and the mini-series, Les uns et les autres. Durrell is a co-founder of Beautiful Feet Productions with his wife, Rebecca. Their mission is to create films that impact the world through the redemptive power of a Christian worldview. They are also passionate about raising awareness and dissipating fear of the US Foster System and speak frequently on the joys of adoption. Durrell, Rebecca and their four children reside in Lynchburg, VA.
