About Duane D. Johnson

FOCUS: Condensed-Matter Physics, Materials Theory and Computational Materials Science -- prediction of materials properties from alloy design, surface-driven phenomena, and nano-alloy catalysts, design of materials using data-driven discovery, materials characterization, and algorithm development, including electronic-structure based methods for properties, thermodynamics and mechanics. Examples: Design new alloys (e.g., High-Entropy Alloys, and Rare-Earth magnets) and efficient catalysts (e.g., encapsulated line compound). Continued development of KKR methods for prediction/design of ordered, partially-ordered and (in)homogeneously disordered alloys and warm-dense plasmas (e.g. for NIF targets at LLNL). Algorithm develop for materials discovery, e.g., solid-state Nudge-Elastic-Band; electronic-structure-based thermodynamics and materials design and "data discovery".
