Professor Dominic Alaazi is a public health researcher with research interests in environmental health, population aging, immigrant health, health promotion, and health equity. His research addresses a wide range of health issues affecting vulnerable populations, including Indigenous peoples, community-residing older adults, older adults in long-term care, and Black immigrants. His research draws on intersectionality and critical race theories, community-based participatory research, and mixed methods research approaches to uncover the structural determinants of health affecting vulnerable populations.

Professor Alaazi's research contributions include published studies highlighting the health and quality of life of older adults in community settings, mental health of immigrant populations, role of housing in mental health recovery among homeless Indigenous populations, and structural determinants of health inequities experienced by marginalized population groups. His research focuses primarily on Canada and sub-Saharan Africa, but he is also interested in research with vulnerable populations in other regions of the world.
