About Dena Kay Jones

Dena Kay Jones has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and in Spain, Italy, France Mexico and Canada. In addition to maintaining a varied repertoire from the standard piano literature, she focuses on performance of Spanish repertoire. Her interest lies in lesser-known Spanish works written from 1900-1950 with a specialization in piano pieces by Joaquín Rodrigo. Her lecture recital, "The Piano Works of Joaquín Rodrigo," contributed to the centennial celebration of Rodrigo’s birth where she was an invited artist at the International Rodrigo Festival. She continues to lecture on and perform these great works. Her teachers included Lydia Artymiw, William Heiles, Andrew DeGrado and Nohema Fernández. She joined the music faculty at UTEP in 2002, where she teaches applied piano studies, chamber music performance, music and culture and class piano.
