About David Title

Dr. David G. Title is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Isabelle Farrington College of Education and Director of the Ed.D. Program in Social, Emotional, and Academic Learning (SEAL). Before joining the faculty at Sacred Heart University, Dr. Title completed a 37-year career in public education, most recently as the Superintendent of Schools for the Fairfield, CT school system (2010-2016). Dr. Title previously served as Superintendent of Schools for the Bloomfield, CT school system (2002-2010) and as Assistant Superintendent of the Waterford, CT school system (1990-2010). He began his career as a history teacher at Longmeadow (MA) high school in 1979. 
Dr. Title was named Educational Leader of the Year by the Connecticut Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in 2001. He was honored as the Connecticut Superintendent of the Year in 2010 by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents. He has worked with numerous schools systems to develop strategic or long-range plans. His research interests are identifying high-performing school districts – defined as those whose student achievement is substantially higher than others serving a similar student population. He has particular expertise in facilitating “Instructional Rounds” in school districts and in assisting schools and districts in appropriate use of data to improve instructional practices.
