Dr. Danielle Burchett is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology. She teaches PSY 300: Experimental Psychology and Human Assessment, which focuses on psychology-related career path exploration. She has also taught PSY 320: Psychopathology, which focuses on learning about the most common mental health disorders with empathy and professionalism.
Dr. Burchett has served on the CSUMB Executive Council Public Health Advisory Group, CSUMB Academic Senate Student Affairs and Academic Support Committee, CSUMB Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects, CSUMB Assessment Committee, and as the 2017-2018 CAHSS Assessment Faculty Associate. She has also served on the CAHSS Curriculum Committee.
Dr. Burchett served as Secretary of the American Psychological Association Division 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology) Section IX (Assessment Psychology). She was a workshop presenter for the Annual MMPI Workshops, where she has trained mental health practitioners in the use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory instruments. She has also volunteered with the Center for Restorative Justice Works Get on the Bus Program--which helps California children visit their incarcerated parents and grandparents at no cost--as well as the Loaves & Fishes food pantry program--which prepares meals for individuals without shelter in the Monterey community.
She also leads student researchers in the Clinical and Forensic Evaluation (CAFE) Lab. Her research focuses on the validation of psychological assessment instruments, with a special focus on scales that detect invalid test responding. She is especially interested in research focused on examining the utility of validity scales in forensic settings. She has served as Consulting Editor for four journals: Psychological Assessment, ASSESSMENT, Journal of Personality Assessment, and Military Psychology.
Dr. Burchett has also worked with the United States Air Force Psychology Research Service Analytic Group, conducting evaluations of military screening, treatment, and decompression programs and examining the utility of psychological tests used operationally in the active duty Air Force.
