About Brent Miller

Brent Miller has been Vice President for Research at Utah State University since 2001. As VP for Research, he has focused on building research capacity by providing resources to recruit and retain outstanding faculty and students, by facilitating interdisciplinary research teams, and by streamlining research support services. International Program Development has been elevated and advanced under his direction. He has worked to establish research policies, and to make sure that USU research is conducted with integrity and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Dr. Miller also has emphasized the role of the University in creating intellectual property, commercializing technologies, and creating startup companies. He restaffed the USU Technology Commercialization Office with tech savvy business development professionals and helped organize the Utah Science, Technology, and Research (USTAR) economic development initiative, which was supported by the Governor and Utah State Legislature in 2006 and 2007. These activities have recently been elevated at Utah State University under a new Vice President for Strategic Ventures and Economic Development.
