About Bethany Hastie

Bethany Hastie is an Assistant Professor at the Peter A Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. Her research examines issues attending precarious labour in the intersecting spaces of labour and employment, migration, and human rights law, and has explored these issues in relation to migrant labour, domestic work, labour exploitation, gender and work, and employment discrimination. Professor Hastie's current projects include: "Workplace Sexual Harassment: Assessing the Effectiveness of Human Rights Law in Canada", funded by the Canadian Bar Association Law for the Future Fund; "Collective Representation for Precarious Workplaces", funded by a SSHRC Insight Development Grant; and, "Access to Justice for Migrant Workers in BC: Evaluating Legislative Effectiveness", funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia.
