About Barry Levy

Professor Levy has won two Mellon, two National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships and a Warren, and American Council of Learned Societies fellowship. He has been a fellow at Harvard University, the American Antiquarian Society, and the Institute of Advanced Study (Princeton, New Jersey). He is the author of Quakers and the American Family: British Settlement in the Delaware Valley, 1650-1780 (New York, Oxford University Press, 1988) and Town Born: The Political Economy of New England Towns from their Settlement to the Revolution (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania University Press, 2009). Levy is currently working on a sequel to his work on the political economy of New England towns, tentatively called "The Problem of Massachusetts in the British and American Empires, 1690-1820.”
