About Anthony Bauer

Dr. Bauer graduated from St. Norbert College as a double major and received a BS in Biology and a BS in Psychology, both in 1978. He then received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1985 and served as a NIH Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the Mayo Graduate School.

Dr. Bauer currently teaches in the following medical school courses: OMS-I IMSK, OMS-I Gastrointestinal and Nutrition, OMS-I Endocrinology, OMS-I Renal and Urinary, OMS-II Gastroenterology, OMS-II Endocrinology and OMS-II Urology. 

The general focus of Dr. Bauer’s Lab in the Center for Research is to understand the immunological regulation of gastrointestinal function in specific disease states, including: sepsis, bacterial dysentery, trauma, postoperative ileus, inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal transplantation. Abstracts of published works can be obtained on PubMed; there are currently five active research projects being developed.
