About Amanda Baright

Amanda Baright, DO, FACOS, FACS is an osteopathic general surgeon who teaches with the understanding that structure, function, and community are all integral to the care of a patient. She graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing an additional year of an undergraduate Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine teaching fellowship. Prior to medical school, she spent time as a research assistant at Purdue University studying antioxidant effects from grapefruit juice and Vitamin C levels in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Dr. Baright completed her general surgery residency at the Michigan State University Statewide System in Grand Rapids, MI and became board certified in general surgery in 2012. In 2014 she became an inaugural member of faculty at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine where she taught gastrointestinal anatomy, pathophysiology, physical examination skills, and was the director of the third year osteopathic manipulative medicine clerkship.

She has practiced in rural independent hospitals in Ohio and Wisconsin before joining Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine’s faculty as Chair of Surgery. Dr. Baright is a lifelong member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and has been a supporter of international medical mission work both by serving in Kenya, Togo, Honduras, Bolivia, and Ecuador and encouraging medical students and residents to go and serve internationally as well. Having spent a year studying in Madrid and a summer in Guanajuato, Mexico, she is eager to increase medical Spanish skills at CUSOM. She and her husband, Matt, can be seen with their English golden retriever, Duke, hiking throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
