Alan Byrd was hired as director of admissions at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2009. Alan was promoted to dean of enrollment services in January 2012. In this role, he is responsible for managing all departments that directly impact students in the enrollment process. Enrollment Services has more than ninety employees and an operating budget in excess of $3.5 million and includes Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid, Student Retention Services, and the Welcome Center. 

Alan began his career in college admissions and enrollment management at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in 2000. He worked at SEMO in a variety of positions including: admission counselor; academic advisor; assistant director of minority recruitment; and the associate director of enrollment management. As the associate director of enrollment management, he led SEMO to three consecutive years of record enrollment. At SEMO, he earned a bachelors and masters degrees in communication and higher education administration. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership at UMSL.
