About Abirami Kandasamy

Abirami Kandasamy is a clinical psychologist associated with the Psychology Department at Western University.

Children's Health Collaborators:

Hi! I am Dr. Abi. I am the Clinic Director of Nanthi Psychology & Wellness. I am a clinical and health psychologist based in London and Markham, Ontario. I specialize in assessing, treating (via psychotherapy), and researching child and adolescent mental health. I am registered with The College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychologist in Autonomous Practice. In this clinic, I offer virtual (online) individual and group therapy to children and adolescents (teens) and in-person psychoeducational assessments.
I was born in Montreal, Quebec and raised in Toronto, Scarborough, and Markham, Ontario. I am a Tamil-Sri Lankan-Canadian and I mention this because it’s a big part of who I am and how I approach my practice.
When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my dogs, family, and friends. I also love movies, hiking, and cooking!
My doctoral training was completed at the University of Windsor in the Child Track of the Clinical Psychology program and my residency was completed with the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium - at the Children’s Hospital - London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and Vanier Children’s Services, in London, Ontario. In addition to the Virtual Psychology Clinic, I work at the Children’s Hospital - LHSC.
I have experience working with children and adolescents struggling with many different challenges affecting their mental health (including anxiety, OCD, depression, and adjusting to medical conditions).
My research interests are in creating and validating new therapy and assessment tools.
