1) Design and synthesis of novel electro-active molecules and molecular cables and that can be utilized as practical molecular devices for the applications in the emerging field of nanotechnology as well as in biomaterial applications.
2) Design and synthesis of bioactive organic compounds by using modern synthetic methods, different chromatographic technique of purification, and structural assignment of the products, and evaluation of their biological activity.
Dr. Abdelwahed is the author of more than twenty-five peer reviewed journal publications with more than 500 citations. He has managed and supervised countless undergraduate and graduate students during his academic career. He has good experience in complex synthesis of vitamins and their substrates, protein overexpression, purification, isolation, and characterization of enzymatic products.
