Abstract

The complex challenges that we face as a society must be approached from various perspectives in order to find innovative, sustainable and ethical solutions.

The College of Arts, Sciences, and Business (CASB) and the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) hosted the first interdisciplinary discussion in a new series that provides insights into current topics. The panel discussion took place at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Room 120 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall and via Zoom.

The panel of experts discussed the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan from military, systems engineering and historical perspectives. The panel consisted of Missouri S&T faculty Major Matt Burmeister, Professor of Military Science; Dr. Steven Corns, Associate Professor of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering; and Dr. John McManus, military historian and a Curators’ Distinguished Professor of history and political science.
