About Seann P. Mulcahy

Seann P. Mulcahy received his Ph.D. in chemistry in 2009 from the University of Pennsylvania where his research focused on organic synthesis and chemical biology. After postdoctoral fellowships at Yale University and Boston University, Seann joined the faculty at Providence College as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in 2012. His research with undergraduates focuses on the synthesis and biological evaluation of small molecules. More specifically, he is interested in the chemistry and biology of beta-carbolines. His current projects seek to develop new methods for their preparation and studies of their interactions with DNA and in living systems. His teaching interests span organic chemistry, organic structure elucidation and spectroscopy, and natural science.
